Dear Community,
We hope that you have found ways to be gentle with yourselves this week. As we continue to fight for our collective liberation, we know that rest, community care, and connection must remain central to how we move forward. The Headwaters community includes the brilliance of a multiracial collective that believes in fighting for a more just world. Our liberations will always be interconnected.

Take a break, hear from our people!
In honor of our 40th year, we worked with Line Break Media to produce videos showcasing who we are as Headwaters. We are excited to highlight the many faces and voices that helped tell this story. From grantee partners to new board members, everyone has a different reason to believe in resourcing movements. It's a joyful video full of reflection and hope as we look to what else is possible when we work together!
Our Birthday Social is coming up
Join us on Thursday, December 5th from 5:30-7:30 PM at Malcolm Yards for a relaxed evening of connection, celebration, and community. Together, we’ll raise a toast to four decades of advancing equity and justice throughout Minnesota. What’s a birthday without cake? RSVP today for "Cheers to 40 Years: Headwaters’ Birthday Social"! Space limited.
Support our work this Give to the Max Day
At Headwaters Foundation for Justice, we fund organizing. Because we know that community organizing and grassroots movements are the engine that makes social change happen. It is through our donors that we are able to sustain our community-led grantmaking, putting money and trust into community hands. You can help us keep the momentum going this Give to the Max Day!
Reflections from a Community Grantmaker, Alfred!
Ever wondered what it's like to be a community grantmaker? As part of our series for our 40th anniversary, Alfred Walking Bull shares their perspective on how philanthropy is Indigenous, what solidarity looks like in practice, and how it all connects to community-led grantmaking:
"Growing up in the Rosebud Sioux Tribe in South Dakota, I learned that generosity must be the first of our core values. Both at home and in school, I was reminded that of the other three values of bravery, fortitude, and wisdom, none are possible without a generous spirit."
