Like many of you, I am profoundly disappointed by the results of the election.

But make no mistake: my Democratic colleagues and I—unlike many Republicans in 2020—will support the peaceful transfer of power and the will of the American people.

I was honored to support Vice President Harris in her bid to be president. She should be proud of the campaign that she ran, particularly in such a short period of time.

Unfortunately, many U.S. Senate elections did not go the way that we hoped either. I am crestfallen that some of my Democratic colleagues who have become close friends will not be returning next term.

But , Kathleen I want you to know that even though we will not have a majority in the Senate next year, we had a real positive impact on some of the toughest races this election cycle. And that was only possible because of the generosity of this grassroots community.

Your donations helped power my friend Jacky Rosen to victory in Nevada after days of vote counting:


They helped my friend Tammy Baldwin cross the finish line in Wisconsin:


And they also helped my friends Elissa Slotkin in Michigan and Ruben Gallego in Arizona, who I am excited to welcome to the Senate. These were states where we were able to win two highly contested open Senate seats.

The road ahead is not going to be easy — I won’t sugarcoat that. But I want to be clear that I am as dedicated today as I’ve ever been to doing absolutely everything in my power to defend our rights and our freedoms.

Although I’m sure they’d like me to, Donald Trump and his MAGA cronies could never make me give up — especially when it comes to protecting women’s reproductive rights.

I swore an oath to defend our Constitution for the first time more than three decades ago. I believed in the promise of America then, and I still believe in it today. Upholding our democracy is worth all the hard work that is to come.
