Dear John,

We are excited to welcome Iman Ali as the new Director of Government Affairs at the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC). Her addition to our policy team will strengthen MPAC's commitment to advancing impactful policies and forging meaningful partnerships at all levels of government.

Iman Ali, the daughter of Pakistani American immigrants, was raised in rural Appalachia – an experience that deeply shaped her values and approach to community, identity, and advocacy.

With strong roots in public service and leadership – honed at Harvard, Vanderbilt, and the University of Kentucky – Iman brings a profound background in policy, law, and advocacy. Her career includes impactful work with organizations like the Brennan Center for Justice, ACLU, the Kentucky Innocence Project, and the U.S. Senate Committee on Rules and Administration.

In recognition of her efforts to tackle food insecurity, and provide support for families impacted by the opioid epidemic in Eastern Kentucky, Governor Andy Beshear appointed Iman to the Kentucky Commission on Women, where she has proudly served since 2022 as the youngest commissioner and the first Muslim American in this position.

Iman previously worked with MPAC as our Policy and Programming Coordinator. In this role, she successfully revitalized the Congressional Leadership Development Program, providing critical pathways for Muslim students in federal internships.

As she steps into her new role, Iman envisions deepening MPAC's impact by amplifying Muslim voices in critical policy discussions and building bridges across communities to foster a more just and inclusive society.

With the addition of Iman to our policy team, we look forward to continuing to build strategic influence in government affairs and enhancing our advocacy efforts, ensuring that our voice resonates in the halls of power.

In Service,

Haris Tarin
Vice President, Policy and Programming
