EMET EXTENDS ITS WHOLEHEARTED CONGRATULATIONS TO REPRESENTATIVE ELISE STEFANIK ON HER APPOINTMENT TO THE UN

We, at EMET, could not be more delighted that Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has been appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Since being elected as the youngest congresswoman in U.S. history in 2014, Representative Stefanik has consistently advocated for strong U.S.-Israeli relations and has fiercely fought against domestic antisemitism.

We look forward to honoring Representative Stefanik at our annual “Rays of Light in the Darkness Dinner” on November 19, 2024.

Representative Stefanik, a member of the House Education and Work Force Committee, rose to international fame following a committee hearing on antisemitism in U.S. universities in December 2023 featuring the Presidents of Harvard University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania. Representative Stefanik’s tough line of questioning subsequently led to the resignation of Claudine Gay of Harvard and Elizabeth Magill of the University of Pennsylvania, both of whom could not outright condemn calls for the genocide of Jews. In an April 2024 hearing, Representative Stefanik questioned Columbia University President Minouche Shafik and sent a letter to the Chairs of the Board of Trustees of Columbia University addressing the university’s appeasement policies as an academic building was stormed, defaced and taken over by a pro-Palestinian mob. Following the hearing and letter, Dr. Shafik resigned as well.

We, at EMET, remain profoundly proud of Representative Elise Stefanik and are certain that she will continue to represent the United States at the United Nations with the same resolute passion that she has employed in the U.S. Congress.

EMET is an unabashedly pro-Israel and pro-American think tank and policy institute that educates members of Congress and policymakers about the entire Middle East.
