This is a longer message than we usually send, but we hope you’ll take a few minutes to read it.

As we reflect on last week’s results, we want to say thank you and explain how your support made an impact during this election cycle:

For the first time ever in a single election cycle, the DNC invested in all 57 state parties, increasing our yearly investment in state parties by 25 percent. That’s funding that went toward hiring organizing staff across the country -- in battleground states and beyond -- and building state party infrastructure that made important down-ballot wins possible. Here are just a few:

In Montana and Arizona, voters passed measures to codify the right to an abortion in their states’ constitutions.

Nebraska voters approved mandatory paid sick leave for workers, while Missouri voters passed a minimum wage increase and enshrined guaranteed paid sick leave into law.

And while several congressional races have yet to be called and will determine the majority in the House, Democrats won critical Senate races in battlegrounds like Wisconsin, Nevada, Michigan, and Arizona.

Your support helped make wins like these possible, and we are incredibly grateful for you. But now, our focus has to turn to what’s next.

As a Trump presidency begins, we’ll need to make sure we don’t lose the organizing, tech and data infrastructure we’ve built all over the country. We’ll need to organize against destructive legislation and executive orders. We’ll need to put ourselves in the strongest possible position to win local and statewide races on the ballot next year and set ourselves up to take back Congress and the White House.

We’ll need a strong Democratic Party to do all of this work. And we need to start now. That’s why we are asking you to make a contribution to the Democratic National Committee today. You can use this link to pitch in:

You may not have been considering chipping in to support the Democratic Party today, but we hope this explanation was helpful. Thank you for everything,

The Democrats
