I will always protect Social Security when I’m in Congress. Not only that, I’ll fight to expand it by “scrapping the cap.” Please chip in now, so I can win this race and fight for Social Security in Congress.
Have you heard about the latest attack on Social Security?
The White House is exploring offering people a $5,000-$10,000 loan to be taken out of their Social Security, delaying their future retirement.
As Social Security Works put it: “It’s a stealth plan to raise the retirement age―but only for people who are feeling the harshest effects of the current crisis.”
This is absolutely wrong. Social Security must be protected, and not only protected, but EXPANDED.
Why is it that the government can somehow always find trillions of dollars to bail out corporations, but when it comes to seniors, suddenly the money runs dry?
The Republican rhetoric around Social Security is propaganda. It’s not an “entitlement.” It’s an EARNED BENEFIT. Under no circumstances should it be cut into.
In fact, we should “scrap the cap,” so the wealthy pay their fair share into Social Security, allowing us to expand benefits. No one should live in financial insecurity and worry in their retirement.
Social Security started during the Great Depression, and as we head into another possible depression, we must remain vigilant and never, EVER allow our social programs to be attacked.
