** Smashing Pumpkins Frontman Checks In on PAWS
------------------------------------------------------------

Last week, longtime PAWS supporter and frontman of The Smashing Pumpkins, William Patrick Corgan ([link removed]) , caught up with our founder, Paula Fasseas, in a Zoom interview to talk about saving pets during COVID-19.

It's a great chat and you'll want to hear more about the Smashing Pumpkins' Lightning Heart blanket ([link removed]) . Watch the video and you'll agree—we're so lucky to have Billy Corgan as part of the PAWS family!

** Celebrating 1600+ Adoptions
------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you to our PAWS Chicago community for saving 1,600 lives (and climbing!) through adoption this year! This week, we reached our 500th virtual adoption by people willing to open their hearts and homes for animals in need during the stay-at-home order. Those remarkable numbers are a testament to our PAWS community's willingness to adapt to the times and still make saving animals a priority. Because of you, these vulnerable pets are happy, loved and home.

** NBC5 Chicago Covers PAWS Chicago Community Outreach
------------------------------------------------------------

NBC Chicago’s LeeAnn Trotter reported from Englewood last week to share the critical work of our Community Outreach team! Englewood is at the very heart of our mission – it’s there where Laurie Maxwell, PAWS Chicago Director of Community Outreach, meets residents and continues to offer resources such as the mobile Pet Food Pantry, telehealth and spay/neuter services.

** Poppy and Pongo and Penny, Oh My!
------------------------------------------------------------

Last weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming the almost two-month-old “P” puppies to our Medical Center! After an anonymous local resident took in her friend’s dog, she realized she was in for a surprise (or seven). Her new dog was pregnant with puppies and although she was ready for one dog, seven newborns can be a bit overwhelming. That’s when we stepped in!

Whether pet owners are facing hardships due to the COVID-19 pandemic or have had to relinquish their pets for an unrelated reason, we’re here to welcome them with open arms and without judgement.

Now, Pasha, Penny, Patti, Pongo, Pele, Poppy, and Portia get to grow and flourish here at PAWS.

** Plan Ahead With a 2021 Calendar
------------------------------------------------------------
We’ve been inside or working from our homes for almost two months now, and we’ve learned one thing for certain: looking at an adorable dog or cat in our PAWS Desktop Calendar really brightens our mornings. Reserve your pet's place in our 2021 edition as Pet of the Day, Week or Month!

** Support Our Critical Work
------------------------------------------------------------
Did you know a $25 donation covers one full day of laundry for our homeless pets? Now, more than ever, we need clean gowns for our team of veterinarians, freshly washed blankets to comfort the pets in our care, and medical supplies that make our lifesaving work possible—because no matter how uncertain the world may get, our mission towards a No Kill community continues. If you’re able, please consider supporting our work by funding COVID-19-critical items—clean laundry, PPE for our veterinary team, and specialized care for some of our most in-need animals.
