As we move forward after the national election, we wanted to share great news for California: We did it! Proposition 4 passed!
Securing $10 billion for climate resilience is a major victory for our families and communities, our redwood forests, and our entire gorgeous state. Prop 4 funding will go toward proven nature-based solutions to prevent devastating and costly wildfires, provide clean and reliable drinking water, and safeguard California’s iconic forests and beaches.
We were blown away by the groundswell of support for Prop 4. Thank you for believing in a sustainable future for California and a better tomorrow for the next generation.
Of course, our work isn’t over. Now more than ever, we must stand up for wildlife and biodiversity, for the health and well-being of our communities, for the natural treasures that inspire and sustain us.
Save the Redwoods League is facing this future with optimism and resolve:
- We will remain steadfast in our commitment to securing and restoring critical redwood landscapes, including places like Sonoma Coast Redwoods.
- We will strengthen our partnerships with parks and tribal partners to advance projects such as ‛O Rew Redwoods Gateway and make redwood forests welcoming and inspiring to all.
- We will work with leaders at all levels—something we’ve done for more than 100 years—to build climate resilience across the state.
- We hope you’ll join us in continuing to ensure that California thrives. Each of you has a vital role to play in our climate future.
The passage of Prop 4 is a victory for all of us. We will each see and feel it in personal ways, for generations to come—in the clean air we breathe, in access to new parks, and in the peace and beauty offered by our protected redwood forests.
The redwoods offer a timeless refuge from worldly cares—a respite many of us need right now. We encourage you to journey to your favorite grove, reconnect with your sense of wonder, feel the earth meeting your feet, take a deep breath…and then join us, renewed and energized, in the important work ahead.
