We are thrilled to announce that Anika Rahman has joined the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA) as the new Fairfax Director. In this role, Amanda will lead efforts to advance affordable housing policies, ensuring that all Fairfax County residents have access to safe, affordable, and diverse housing options.

Anika Rahman is a dedicated advocate for marginalized and underrepresented communities, recognized as one of NOVA's 40 Under 40 by the Leadership Center for Excellence. She serves as Vice Chair for an organization representing Asian American communities in Virginia and is fluent in five languages. With over a decade of mission-driven experience, Anika has made significant contributions to grassroots advocacy and development across management, government affairs, strategic execution, public speaking, research, legislative processes, policy drafting, and coalition work.
Anika has worked with multiple Virginia elected officials and candidates, bringing extensive experience, including six sessions in the Virginia State Legislature as Legislative Director, along with advocacy work on Capitol Hill for foreign policy issues such as the Uyghur and Rohingya crises. Her commitment to empowering marginalized communities is also evident through her leadership roles in organizations advocating for civic engagement and voter participation.

We’re excited to welcome Alison Herrera as the new Social Media Coordinator at the Northern Virginia Affordable Housing Alliance (NVAHA)! In this role, Alison will drive the strategy and content for our social media platforms, amplifying our message, engaging our community, and raising awareness about the need for affordable housing across Northern Virginia.

Graduated in May 2024 with a degree in Communication and Digital Studies from the University of Mary Washington, Alison brings a well-rounded background in digital communication and client engagement. Her recent role as a Marketing Analyst at TekSkope involved building client relationships, supporting needs from eLearning to cybersecurity, and managing the company’s LinkedIn presence. Additionally, she gained experience in social media and content creation during a marketing internship with Jazz in the Country and developed administrative and event-planning skills as an Assistant for University of Mary Washington’s Residential Life.
