I am writing to you personally because I know that you care about the future. Like me, and everyone else on the Race Forward team, you believe in the promises of this nation, and you are invested in an America we can be proud of. Yet, we now know the journey is going to be longer and harder than we’d hoped.

As we said in our press release on Wednesday: “It is imperative that we view these results as one chapter in a long struggle to advance a multi-racial democracy.” 

Don’t let despair win. This isn’t going to be easy, but history never goes in a straight line. This is our work, our mission, and we were always going to fight for democracy, no matter who the President is.
