Dear John,
Now more than ever, we will have to defend our wins and protect our communities from increased harm and attacks. In January, we see a change in national government that will put our hard fought environmental justice wins at risk. That’s why we’re continuing to fight as hard as we can NOW against what we know is coming up, while mapping out the road ahead.
Join us to Fight the Dirty Deal, whenever it may come. [Take Action This Week]([link removed])
Earlier this year, Sen. Manchin introduced another version of his old dirty deal – this time it’s called the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024 (EPRA) – in the Senate. This permitting bill strips away protections codified by the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), paving the way for Big Oil & Gas to continue extracting from our planet at the expense of us all (see our [factsheet here]([link removed])).

While we don’t know if this kind of "permitting reform" will be brought for a vote this session, be attached to must-pass legislation, or more likely rear its head again next year, we do know that we must ensure legislators stand with communities not corporations and oppose EPRA in any form, now or in the future.
