Friend,
The team at NILC is currently heads-down in a series of strategy sessions, preparing for how to make the absolute most of the next few months before Donald Trump is back in the White House. This means you’ll hear a bit less from us over email in the coming days but rest assured — we’re working harder than ever.
Donald Trump has made clear that he intends to target and tear apart immigrant communities as a hallmark of his next administration. He has committed to launching mass deportations on day 1, before moving on to ending birthright citizenship, building internment camps, and voiding the right of immigrant children to attend public schools. We take these threats seriously and here is just some of what we plan to do about it:
Between now and inauguration, we need to mobilize as much public opposition to mass deportations as possible. That means rallying our supporters and allies but also reaching people across the country and helping them understand the true consequences of these illegal and destructive plans.
We will strengthen our networks of solidarity, so that we are in lockstep with local and state organizations that are on the ground with immigrant communities. We are ready to apply our lessons learned from challenging worksite raids under the first Trump administration to scale this work.
We’re already equipping our communities with resources to protect themselves and their loved ones. The day before the election, we released a Know Your Rights guide for immigrants, which has already reached over two million people. That impact was possible because of supporters, like you, spreading the word. We will continue to ensure that our communities have the tools they need, and they know that they are not alone.
As you can see, we’re not backing down; we are pushing forward. By standing with us, friend, you’re already a vital part of this fight. Together, we’ll face these challenges with strength and resilience, defending the rights, dignity, and humanity of immigrant communities across the country.
With gratitude,
— National Immigration Law Center
