Hey, y’all,
When the going got tough in this election, Young Democrats made the difference.
Hundreds of our members across the state stepped up and organized on campaigns up and down the ballot. Because of Young Democrats, we flipped seats on the Council of State, we broke the supermajority, and we held our ground in judicial and countywide races all across North Carolina. Our organization has spent the last several years building a pipeline of young people who are ready to take the reins.
YDNC has proudly produced leaders like Anderson Clayton, the chair of our state party; Zach Godwin, who managed Rachel Hunt’s campaign and flipped the Lieutenant Governor’s seat; Brenden Hipps, Megan Wagner, and Emma Kennett, who helped break the supermajority as the campaign managers for Lindsey Prather, Dante Pittman, and Beth Helfrich; and Jordan Lopez, Dante Pittman, and Caleb Theodros, who will be some of the youngest members of the North Carolina Legislature when they take office in January.
Next month, YDNC will be taking a small delegation of our members to the Young Democrats of America National Winter Meeting in Boston, Massachusetts.
This represents an important opportunity for our members to network with other Young Democrats from across the country and forge the connections that will help us organize young voters across the United States in the coming years. The Winter Meeting is also a key educational opportunity—the panels and trainings YDA puts on will let our members come home with new skills that they can put to work making our state a better place.
Because this is such an important opportunity, YDNC has made the decision to fully fund our delegation’s travel and lodging, because we believe that someone’s means should never limit their opportunities. To make sure we’re able to continue helping our members access opportunities like these, though, I hope I can count on your help.
