Meet Serena, the “Swiftie” of our flock. In animal agriculture, she faced suffering, but at sanctuary, she began a joyful new life—even with a broken heart.
Serena and her “sister” Venus once endured some of the same cruel practices inflicted on factory-farmed turkeys, like painful debeaking, but thankfully, a kind person saw these two as the living, feeling birds they are and saved them from becoming holiday meals.
At Farm Sanctuary, these “sisters” had five more years together, and when Venus passed away, Serena found comfort in the rest of her squad—especially her closest friend, Thelma turkey.
Serena is a real tough kid who’s now a worthy flock leader, but she’s a lover at heart. She adores the attention of her caregivers and snuggles up with her buddies Thelma and Eric rooster, while still keeping them in their place in the aviary.
Now in her sanctuary era, Serena enjoys playing with treat toys—and loves listening to music. Can you guess her favorite artist?
We don’t know ‘bout you, but we think Serena’s cute. John, will you show this Swiftie you care? Your one-time $35 gift will support Serena’s ongoing care at Farm Sanctuary.
To show our appreciation, we’ll send you an adoption certificate—your choice of digital or print—featuring photos of Serena and her inspiring rescue story.
Or adopt “The Besties” of our flock—Serena and her buddy Thelma—as a pair! If you sponsor these feathered friends in honor of YOUR bestie, we’ll send them the certificate to show your gratitude.
Farm Sanctuary’s Adopt a Turkey Project is a tradition as old as our founding. Each year, we inspire thousands to forge new holiday traditions of their own by sponsoring a rescued turkey rather than eating one—at a time of year when 46 million of these sentient birds are killed for Thanksgiving.
John, we’re sure our sweet Serena enchants you. Will you adopt her today?
