October 2024 - CSVANW was glad to attend NM Legal Aid’s open house for their Native American Program. Their office is on Santa Ana lands and their program serves all 19 Pueblos in New Mexico and the Mescalero Apache Nation. We look forward to working with them in the future and were grateful to share space with their staff and community partners!

October 2024 - CSVANW participated in KUNM's "Let's Talk UNM" roundtable discussion for Domestic Violence Awareness Month! Community advocates from NMCSAP, New Mexico Asian Family Center, Enlace Comunitario, and NMCADV came together to bring awareness to the most important issues facing survivors of domestic violence in the state.

CSVANW emphasized the need for more comprehensive and culturally competent DV wrap around services, as well as an expansion of tribal political and economic sovereignty to support with implementing VAWA. Thank you to KUNM for hosting us!

October 2024 - CSVANW held a 2-day MMIWR Core Advocacy Training on October 1st & 2nd, 2024. This training aimed to provide collaboration for a better understanding of MMIWR to our attendees. We had a broad range of presentations on Search and Rescue & Safe Practices Training, Coercive Control & Strangulation, Missing On Navajo, Connections Between MMIWR & Sex Trafficking, and from the National Tribal Trial College and Missing and Murdered Diné Relatives Coalition.

Our aim was to educate attendees on the intersections of MMIWR and all that goes into conducting searches and resting justice.

October 2024 - CSVANW remains actively involved with the City of Albuquerque’s Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Commission, working to enhance accessibility and support for survivors in Bernalillo County by developing a new resource packet and an Order of Protection packet.

October 2024 - Happy Indigenous People Day! CSVANW tabled at the Avanyu Plaza located directly East of the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center. The table had many visitors and supporters. CSVANW handed out PPE, stickers, briefs, and fruit to all that came to the booth. Many people showed interest and support for CSVANW and Indigenous Peoples Day. Thank you for the monetary donations.

October 2024 - CSVANW held its 9th Annual I Will Run For Them 5K. Thank you to Avanyu Plaza for allowing CSVANW to host the 5K in a beautiful location. We thank the many participants if you may have joined in person or were not able to attend, we thank you, your thoughts and prayers were felt and appreciated. October is Domestic violence Awareness Month and the participants dedicated their run/walk for thier friends, family, and to anyone they cherish and love whom were affected by Domestic Violence. Thank you to Ando from Kiss 97.3 (the rhythm of New Mexico) for your great music and keeping everyone motivated. #CycleBreakers

October 2024 - CSVANW had the honor of attending the Clyde Warrior Civil Rights Recognition celebration at the Albuquerque Museum on Friday, October 18, 2024, to celebrate and recognize the impactful work of Indigenous Change Makers! The Native Professional Advancement Center also formerly known as the National Indigenous Youth Council did an amazing job putting this amazing event together!

October 2024 - CSVANW attended NMCSAP's (NM Coalition of Sexual Assault Program) quarterly sexual assault prevention meeting. In this quarter meeting we received an overview of prevention and started our 5 year statewide plan to prevent sexual violence! Thank you NMCSAP for hosting these meaningful and collaborative sessions and for including our voices!

October 2024 - CSVANW had the privilege of attending a site visit to Santa Clara Pueblo, where we met with Governor Chavarria and his dedicated team of direct service providers. During out time there, we discussed the significance of this year's OVW Government-to-Government Tribal Consultation emphasizing the vital role or Tribal Leaders in providing testimony on behalf of their communities. Governor Chavarria shared valuable insights into the challenges facing the tribe. We look forward to continuing our collaborative work with the Santa Clara Pueblo community.

October 2024 - CSVANW traveled to Pojoaque Pueblo in northern New Mexico to meet with Governor Roybal and her team of direct service providers, highlighting the significance of this year’s OVW Tribal Consultation. Pojoaque Pueblo graciously shared insights into their community and extended a warm welcome to our team. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and continuing our collaborative efforts in the future.

October 2024 - CSVANW held our second Youth Workshop for our Engaging All Relatives Programming this past Saturday! We learned from an Isleta elder on how to make bow guards, what they're used for, and later from Native Community Health Network about Healthy Masculinities & Relationships! Thank you to everyone who attended, we look forward to our next event in the winter!

October 2024 - CSVANW gave a presentation on Teen Dating Violence to the Advance Behavioral Health Services training for the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). All in attendance consisted of educators and social workers working in schools and dormitories on the reservations in Tribal communities. CSVANW was delighted to have had this opportunity to give this presentation to provide awareness and prevention.

October 2024 - In collaboration with the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO), CSVANW provided a focus group and talking circle for impacted families MMIWR in Albuquerque. The purpose of this focus group was for families to discuss the challenges and barriers they have faced and are still facing today when it comes to reporting and getting updates from law enforcement agencies. After the focus group a guided journaling session was provided to help encourage families with their healing, thoughts, and emotions, then dinner was provided at the end.
