Greetings to all,
On behalf of the more than 700,000 constituents in the 12th Congressional District,
I would like to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to the men and women who have served in all branches of our Armed Forces.
We are especially grateful to the 36,000 veterans who reside in our district. America is greater and stronger because of you.
In fact, it was almost one year ago that I had the privilege of honoring the life of Tuskegee Airman and World War II combatant, Second Lieutenant Fred Brewer, when his remains were returned home to Charlotte after 79 years for his final interment last December.
My father served in the Navy, and my brother and uncle served in the Army.
Through their experiences I've come to understand the weight of their duty and the pain so many veterans carry for those who didn’t come home.
Their service made them better people, and taught me the value of committing to something greater than oneself. I carry that lesson with me every day in the halls of Congress and proudly support policy that improves the quality of life for our veterans and their families.
As a reminder, my office works directly with representatives in the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to resolve issues pertaining to benefits and accessing service-related documents throughout the year.
I wish you a blessed Veterans Day, and may God bless these United States of America.
