Hello John --

When I was in fourth grade, my dad lost his job.

It was very hard for my family to recover, and we moved frequently as my parents looked for work. I keep that experience in mind as I work to respond to the economic harm the COVID-19 pandemic is causing working families.

Washingtonians and families across the country are facing impossible choices as they struggle with job loss, pay cuts, the high cost of housing and food, and the lack of childcare.

That's why I have joined other Democrats in introducing the HEROES Act that will help our nation reopen our economy safely, honor and support frontline essential workers -- heroes -- and put much-needed money into the pockets of working families.

Add your name as a citizen co-sponsor to urge the House to pass the HEROES Act and for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to pass it in the Senate as soon as possible.

Here's a summary of the provisions in the HEROES Act that I am proud to have fought for:

-Helping 60 million American workers stay on the payroll so they can receive wages and benefits through an expansion of the Employee Retention Tax Credit.

- Preventing and reducing childhood poverty through an expansion of the child tax credit to $3,000 per child ($3,600 per child under 6).

- Ensuring that state and local governments can continue to fund essential services and pay frontline workers like cops, firefighters, health care workers, and educators.

- Helping working families afford housing with $100 billion in rent relief.

- Supporting the United States Postal Service and expanding vote-by-mail to protect our economy, our democracy, and secure our elections.

- Expanding testing and contact tracing with an additional $75 billion to increase the production of COVID-19 testing supplies and to create a national strategy that will help us safely reopen the economy.

- Increasing affordable access to broadband internet for rural areas and for working families with $4 billion in additional funding.

In this critical moment for our country, we must stand united. John, add your name as a citizen co-sponsor of this critical legislation to help end the COVID-19 pandemic and put America on the road to economic recovery for all families. >>
