This Veterans Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served in our Armed Forces. As for everyone, this day holds special significance for me as I reflect on the incredible legacy of my grandfather, Joseph Di Giovanna.
A private of the U.S. Army during World War II, he and his brothers in arms demonstrated immense courage in the face of death when they stormed Omaha Beach and took the beach. Their bravery preserved the freedoms we enjoy today, and we stand in gratitude and remembrance of their sacrifices, now and forever.
Today, we honor men and women like my Grandpa who have served their tour of duty and who came back home, with the somber knowledge that all too many never did.
One of the ways that we honor their valor and patriotism is to responsibly steward and advocate for our liberties here at home, and it is for such a reason that the Orange County Young Republicans exist. If you are a veteran reading this email, OCYR stands with you to ensure that we do not squander the gift that you helped preserve.
Thank you for your service, and welcome home.
-Andrew Di Giovanna, OCYR President
