WASHINGTON—Supporters of the Immigration Reform Law Institute (IRLI) saw a familiar name in the news today as President-elect Donald Trump has named IRLI Senior Fellow Tom Homan to serve as the new administration’s border czar.
With more the three decades of law enforcement experience, Homan served as acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the first Trump Administration after rising up the ranks of ICE under several presidents. In 2020 he began working with IRLI as senior fellow.
In a Truth Social post announcing Homan’s new position, President-Elect Trump said his new border czar would be in charge of the southern and northern borders as well as all maritime and aviation security.
“I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our borders,” Trump said. “Likewise, Tom Homan will be in charge of all deportation of illegal aliens back to their country of origin. Congratulations to Tom. I have no doubt he will do a fantastic, and long awaited for, job.”
“Tom Homan has been a tremendous asset to IRLI the last few years,” said Dale L. Wilcox, executive director and general counsel of IRLI. “In addition to spreading the message of IRLI around the country, he has worked closely with our attorneys on legal strategy to defend the rights of Americans. Our country has suffered greatly as runaway illegal migration has been tolerated and encouraged the last four years. Tom Homan is the best person to restore order and bring common sense to our immigration policy. By adding Tom to his administration, President-elect Trump has shown great determination and willingness to deliver on his campaign promises.”
