With Nearly 600,000 Jobs Lost, the Time is Now for Congress to Aid Advanced Energy ([link removed] )

In just two short months, the COVID-19 pandemic has devastated the American economy. The unemployment rate has reached levels that the country has not seen since the Great Depression nearly 100 years ago. Congress and the Trump Administration have responded by providing trillions of dollars of immediate relief to businesses and households to avoid even worse impacts. But no action has been taken on a simple measure that could help save hundreds of thousands of advanced energy jobs that otherwise may never return. The time to act is now, because time is running out. Click here to continue reading the blog post or download the Impact of Covid-19 Fact Sheet> ([link removed] )

Energy Storage is a Game-Changer for Texas ([link removed] )

Energy News Network published this industry perspective article co-authored by Suzanne Bertin: "Wind and solar are powerful forces in their own right, mainly given their ever lower costs and their rare ability to provide some long-term stability in a turbulent world. The U.S., including Texas, has deployed large numbers of wind turbines and solar panels and deployment will continue to grow. But once another emerging technology — cheap energy storage — shows up, they might very well explode onto the landscape. That is on the verge of happening". Opportunity in the Old Dominion: What the Virginia Clean Economy Act Means for Business ([link removed] )

Live on Tuesday, May 19, at 3pm ET / 12noon PT

On April 11, Gov. Ralph Northam signed the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), making Virginia the first state in the Southeast United States to commit to 100% clean energy and setting 2045 as the target for reaching that goal. The new law sets specific requirements for energy efficiency, renewable energy (onshore and offshore), energy storage, and more. This makes Virginia, long a laggard in energy policy, a prime target for advanced energy growth, providing savings for consumers and jobs and investment for the Commonwealth. In this webinar, one of the legislative patrons of the VCEA and representatives of advanced energy companies will discuss how the Act came to fruition and the opportunities for industry growth and economic benefit made possible by this landmark new law.

Panelists:

- Sen. Jennifer McClellan (D-9th District)
- Rick Counihan, Global Lead Energy Product Policy & Regulation, Google
- Hayes Framme, Government Relations & Communications Manager, Ørsted
- Devin Welch, Chief Executive Officer, SunTribe Solar
- Harry Godfrey, Executive Director, Virginia AEE
