Dear Friend,
We owe the success of our nation to the men and women who served in our armed forces, especially those who gave their lives for our freedom. I want to remember those who lost their lives in service to our country and honor those who were able to come home. The service of our nation’s veterans is unparalleled, and I am thankful to every man and woman who has served our great nation. As we celebrate Veterans Day this month, I want to take a moment to update you on my work in Congress on behalf of our veterans.
I am leading the resolution in the House of Representatives to honor the service and sacrifice of America’s veterans on Veterans Day. During the 118th Congress, I have supported various bills related to veterans’ issues. I was an original co-sponsor of the Major Richard Star Act to ensure fairness in disability and retirement compensation for veterans with less than 20 years of service. Additionally, I have co-sponsored other key bills to honor our veterans and help provide needed services to them. As a member of the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Subcommittee, I am prioritizing the needs of our veterans and fighting for our American heroes.
I will always remember those who have served our nation. One way I am working to memorialize and honor our veterans is through the Library of Congress and the Veterans History Project. I would be grateful for your help. Would you be willing to share your recollections about serving in the military? Do you know a fellow veteran who would share theirs? Please reach out to Sharon Johnson in my office at (202) 225-5031 to learn more.
If I can ever be of service to you with your VA or Social Security benefits or be helpful in navigating another federal agency, please let me know. It is an honor to represent you in Congress.
