Hi John,

Donald Trump is back.

I don’t know about you, but I’m terrified that someone who pledged to unleash a “drill, baby, drill” wave of new oil and gas projects and withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement is back in the White House. [1]

Trump’s re-election could undermine the fight against the climate crisis at the worst possible time, so we urgently need world leaders to stand up to him to keep global climate action on track. [2]

If you agree with me John, please can you sign our urgent petition calling on Keir Starmer to be bold in the face of Trump by holding the Big Oil companies driving the climate crisis to account? In under a week, over 50,000 people have already signed our petition and every new signature helps show the prime minister that the public expects him to step up.

Today, world leaders are meeting at global climate talks to try to forge an agreement on how to save the planet. [3] We’ve got 2 weeks of negotiations to help keep the fight against the climate crisis alive.

But Big Oil lobbyists are at the talks in record numbers and they will be licking their lips at Trump’s pro-oil, anti-climate agenda. [4] If we’re not careful, Big Oil will try to use Trump’s victory to push world leaders to water down international agreements, stall climate action and get off the hook from paying billions of pounds worth of climate damages.

Now more than ever we need our Prime Minister to stand up and be counted on the global stage. We need him to remember the bold climate mandate he was elected on this summer, and that the UK public strongly supports making corporate polluters pay for climate impacts. [5]

Please can you sign our petition to put pressure on Keir Starmer to stand up and be counted at these crunch climate talks? If enough of us sign we can convince the Prime Minister that the British public expects him to rein in Big Oil companies once and for all.

The re-election of a climate denier to the White House is a crushing blow. But the climate crisis is wreaking havoc across the world right now, so we can’t afford to give up the fight. [6]

Donald Trump is only one person and together we are powerful. We’re a global movement fighting for people, the planet and our future and we refuse to fall silent in the face of adversity.

Our strength comes from our collective voice and together we can fight back by convincing world leaders like Keir Starmer to hold Big Oil giants to account. So thank you for taking action to demand the Prime Minister reins in big polluters - your voice is powerful and can make change happen.

In solidarity,
