Here at NPQ, we are grappling with the implications of the 2024 elections along with you. We know that you—the people powering the nonprofit and civil sectors—have been and will continue to be at the frontline of the struggle for justice. Our job, as always, is to bring you news, context, and analysis that help move this essential work forward. We also know that you are the vanguard of radically imagining that new worlds are possible. So this week we are considering what we might need to cultivate—inside and out—to meet the current moment with love, courage, and pride.
First, we turn to reproductive healthcare and a policy argument for emergency abortion protections based in the principles of bioethics. Next, author and activist adrienne maree brown walks us through how to hold a revolutionary mindset. We then explore the transformative power of the natural world, and the need to center the leadership of youth, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ people in the fight for climate justice. That story comes to us from the current fall issue of Nonprofit Quarterly magazine, “Supporting the Youth Climate Justice Movement,” an inspiring collection of stories on the implications of the climate crisis for youth, in their own words—and what older generations can do to help.
