Dear Friend,
When Dan was deployed as an Air Force officer in Afghanistan, he started noticing signs of fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and lumps on his neck. Concerned but unable to investigate further while overseas, he continued his duties. After returning home and retiring from the Air Force he received the news: a diagnosis of stage 3 testicular cancer.
As a veteran navigating life post-service, Dan felt scared and alone. That’s when he turned to the Livestrong Guidebook, which helped him organize his care, ask the right questions, and feel prepared for the path ahead.
“Livestrong’s Guidebook was an incredible help. During one of the toughest times of my life, it was the guidance I needed to take control and move forward.”
-Dan, veteran and cancer survivor
Today, Dan is a survivor who strives to inspire others. After completing treatment in 2011, he struggled to finish the Livestrong Challenge 45-mile cycling ride. This year, with renewed strength, he not only completed the course again but felt he could have taken on 65 miles! His story is a true testament to the power of resilience and survivorship.
This Veterans Day, your gift can make a meaningful difference for veterans like Dan. With a donation of $30 or more, we’ll place a Livestrong Guidebook into the hands of a veteran facing a cancer diagnosis, providing crucial support for their journey.
Let’s ensure no veteran fights cancer alone. Thank you for being there for those who’ve given so much.
Warm regards,
The Livestrong Team
