A few months into her first race, Abigail decided not to accept corporate PAC donations. This was certainly not an easy decision (especially for a first-time candidate!) but it was a decision she made after listening to voters along the campaign trail who routinely expressed their concern that corporate PAC donations were influencing the behavior of elected officials. What better way to address that concern and restore trust than to take that money off the table?

But now, Washington Republicans have made it clear that special interest money will flood into Virginia’s seventh to stop Abigail from winning reelection and fighting for the people of Central Virginia. But we believe in the strength of our support from grassroots donors and the power of regular people to help shape an election.

That grassroots support is what sustains us. It’s also going to be crucial to our victory in 2020.
