John --

During times of crisis, Americans have a long history of answering the call to serve. As we work to recover from the COVID-19 crisis, another generation is ready to do the same.

Members of our national service programs like AmeriCorps already work on the ground in communities across the country, and they're willing and ready to help our country recover from this crisis. That's why I'm leading a bipartisan effort to significantly expand these programs and put hundreds of thousands of young American men and women to work contact tracing, implementing public health programs, and helping our country reopen.

Our country has faced historic challenges like this one before, and time and again, Americans have answered the call to serve and made our country stronger than ever. That's what my legislation is all about, and I'm proud to have support from dozens of members of the House and Senate, members from both parties, and more than one hundred service organizations from around the country.

Now is the time for us to rally together, protect our most vulnerable communities, and work to ensure our country can recover quickly from this crisis. I've seen the amazing impacts of national service programs firsthand, and I know they can be an important part of the solution to these challenging times.
