Tell Congress:

"Reject the Trump administration’s schemes to cut Social Security in the midst of the pandemic!"

John,

Why does Jared Kushner have any power in our government?

His shadow coronavirus response team has undermined scientific experts and led to delays in the government’s response to the pandemic. And now, he’s working with others in the White House to push a new plan that would force people to trade away their retirement in order to receive desperately needed economic aid today.

Kushner is circulating a scheme, which has support from key White House economic advisors, that would offer working people cash payments of $5,000 or $10,000 in exchange for raising their retirement age. And, because millions of people and families are really hurting, many might feel forced into accepting this awful trade-off.

At a time when the Trump administration is happy to dole out trillions of dollars in handouts and tax breaks to the rich and corporations, it’s disgusting that they’d ask working people and families to choose between feeding their families today vs. surviving in retirement tomorrow.

Social Security Works is rallying our allies to reject the Trump administration’s efforts to defund and destroy our Social Security system, whether through payroll tax cuts or forcing Americans to work until they die. Sign the petition to fight back against the Trump administration’s attacks on Social Security!

Republicans have been pushing to raise the retirement age across the board for decades. Mitt Romney made it part of his Presidential campaign in 2012. They say that people are living longer, but that’s only true for the wealthy. Life expectancy for most people who would need this benefit is actually getting shorter.

More than 85,000 Americans have lost their lives to the pandemic with over 37 million out of work. And what’s the Trump administration’s response? To attempt to destroy our Social Security system.

Instead of trying to steal the earned benefits of families struggling to make ends meet, the government should be expanding Social Security for all current and future beneficiaries while increasing direct cash payments to all U.S. households.

Click here to tell Congress to reject the Trump administration’s efforts to defund and destroy our Social Security system!

Together, we will not allow Trump and his cronies to use the pandemic to achieve their long-held goal of destroying Social Security.

Thank you,

Michael Phelan
