Dear John,
For the last three days, friends and former coworkers have been contacting me — some in tears, some in abject panic, most deeply worried. This has been an incredibly hard week, and it will take time to grieve and process all that has happened.
However, as much as we might feel tempted to throw up our hands and give up on democracy, I implore you to resist that urge.
Because it’s our duty to do all we can to protect those most in harm’s way.
Families will be broken up by Trump’s mass deportation plans. Women will die after being denied basic health care. LGTBQ people will face increased harassment and violence.
Inequality Media has already begun planning how we will help lead the resistance to Trump’s cruel and extreme agenda, and I’ll have much more to share about those plans in the near future.
But one thing I know for sure is that we have no time to waste. The resistance starts now. That’s why I’m asking you today: If you can afford it, will you donate $5 a month to Inequality Media and help jump-start our efforts to stop Donald Trump’s cruel and radical agenda and protect those most in harm’s way?
Yes, Robert! I’ll start a monthly donation.
No, I’m sorry, I can’t chip in monthly.
As Donald Trump and his MAGA allies prepare for him to take office in January, we’re getting ready to fight back and resist his most damaging policies.
We will organize in our communities. We will fight through the courts. We will argue our case through social media. We will reach out to the people who have lost faith in the government’s ability to improve their lives.
In addition — and this is critical — we will challenge Democratic elected officials to learn the right lessons from this disaster and once again champion policies to help the working class voters who have turned away from the party in recent years.
Here’s what we will NOT do. We will not resort to violence. We will not look for ways to overturn the results of a free and fair election. And we will not resort to lies, conspiracy theories, and disinformation that will only further undermine faith in democracy.
Since 2015, I’ve been saying that America is better than Trump. I’m no longer so sure. But I still believe — in fact, I know — that the only way out of this dark and dangerous place for our country is through the hard work of grassroots democracy.
This will not be easy, but giving up is not an option. The stakes are too high, and the danger is too great.
So if you’re in a position to chip in any amount each month, large or small, will you make a monthly donation to Inequality Media today and support our efforts to curtail Donald Trump’s cruel and radical agenda?
Yes, Robert! I’ll start a monthly donation.
No, I’m sorry, I can’t chip in monthly.
