John,
Most of the Trump tax scam is set to expire next year and congressional Republicans are already plotting to renew it or possibly make these devastating handouts permanent.
Trump’s tax plan is a deliberate mechanism to redistribute wealth from working families directly into the pockets of the ultra-wealthy. In fact, when Trump rammed through his tax legislation in 2017, he created a system where corporations and billionaires pay less in taxes than teachers, nurses, and small business owners.
Now, congressional Republicans are considering enacting tariffs on imports to pay for their tax cuts for the rich―meaning that costs will skyrocket for working people just to continue handing obscene tax breaks to the rich and corporations.[1]
We must stop them from fundamentally restructuring our economic system. Tell Congress to reject a renewal of the Trump tax scam for the rich and corporations.
The numbers from Trump’s first tax scam are staggering: while working families struggle, corporations saw their effective tax rates plummet from 35% to just 21%.[2] This is economic warfare against the middle class and the consequences have been catastrophic. These tax cuts added over $1.9 trillion to the federal deficit creating a fiscal time bomb that threatens critical public services like Social Security, Medicare, and infrastructure investments.[3]
Now, with key provisions set to expire next year, Republicans are preparing a full-scale assault to renew this skewed tax code and maybe even make these tax cuts for the wealthy permanent. Their strategy is clear: lock in massive tax breaks for their millionaire and billionaire donors while potentially forcing devastating cuts to programs that are relied upon by working Americans.
Take action today to demand Congress reject a renewal of the Trump tax scam for the rich and corporations.
Since 2017, Trump’s tax code further concentrated wealth in the hands of a tiny elite who are already hoarding unprecedented levels of economic and political power.
Analysis from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) shows that 15 corporations have separately reported more than $1 billion in tax benefits from a single provision in the Trump tax scam.[4] This is a systemic betrayal of everything the American tax system is supposed to represent.
If extended, these tax cuts for the rich will create massive deficits, reduce investments in critical infrastructure, and undermine economic mobility. Every dollar given away to billionaires is a dollar stolen from public schools, healthcare, and community development.
The upcoming congressional battle is about the soul of our economic system. We cannot continue to allow a rigged system where the wealthy pay less. We must demand a tax code that reflects genuine fairness and shared responsibility.
We still have time to stop this assault, expose their corrupt agenda, and demand genuine tax justice. Tell Congress to reject a renewal of the Trump tax scam for the rich and corporations.
Thank you for your commitment to building a fairer economy for all,
