Jack Reed

Friend,

We are living in truly unprecedented times. More than 30 million people in our country are unemployed, and we have lost more than 80,000 Americans -- fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, friends, and neighbors -- to the COVID-19 pandemic. And last week, Donald Trump had the nerve to say he wants to "terminate health care" under the Affordable Care Act.

This crisis has shown us how critical it is that every single person has access to affordable health care. The Affordable Care Act provides health insurance to millions of Americans, and the president does not have a plan to replace it. Terminating this law would be remarkably irresponsible even if we were not facing a public health crisis.

President Trump's intent to take away health care for millions of Americans is cruel and unacceptable -- especially as we face a global pandemic. Sign our petition to demand the protection of the Affordable Care Act.

As people struggle economically and lose their employer health care benefits, they are going to need the law's individual marketplace and Medicaid expansion for health coverage more than ever before. But the president has been fighting the Affordable Care Act -- one of President Obama's key achievements -- ever since he took office. He refused to even open a special enrollment window to allow Americans to purchase health insurance during the COVID-19 crisis.

It's clear that President Trump doesn't get it. Americans want to be able to see a doctor when they're sick -- not to terminate coverage. I'll keep fighting in the Senate to protect everyone's access to health care, but I need your help.

Add your name next to mine to protect the Affordable Care Act and health care for millions of Americans at this critical time.

Thank you,

Jack Reed
