Private prison companies call Trump’s deportation plans "unprecedented opportunity"
On earnings calls Thursday, private prison groups expressed a nearly unrestrained glee over what one called the “unprecedented opportunity” that a second Trump administration brings. Trump made mass deportation of undocumented immigrants ― and even some immigrants who are here with legal protections ― a cornerstone of his 2024 campaign, building on years of racist and dehumanizing rhetoric about immigrants, speaking affectionately for President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s mass deportation program, and even invoking an 18th-century law that could give him broad powers to pursue deportations. That sort of thing is music to the ears of private prison operators ― whose stock prices soared upon the projections of Trump’s second term in the White House.

DNC office shooting suspect busted with more than 120 guns in his Arizona home
Jeffrey Michael Kelly, the man arrested for shooting up a DNC office in Phoenix, Arizona, was discovered to have over 120 guns and 250,000 (!) rounds of ammo hidden in his home. Police believe that he may have been planning a mass shooting, given that he was hiding a full-on arsenal in his home. We're beyond lucky that he was stopped before he could commit an even more heinous act of violence, but the fact that he was able to assemble a small army's worth of weaponry in the first place is yet another grim reminder our gun laws are in need of SERIOUS reform. Will you make a donation to Everytown for Gun Safety and support their fight to make sure that "never again" becomes a reality?
Trump AG prospect warns Letitia James: "We will put your fat ass in prison"
Republican lawyer Mike Davis, an adviser for Donald Trump who is being talked up as his potential attorney general, already mirrors the president-elect’s crassness and hostility. On a right-wing podcast Thursday, Davis took aim at New York Attorney General Letitia James, who sued the former president for committing business fraud and won a $454 million civil judgment against him and the Trump Organization. “Let me just say this to big Tish James: I dare you to try to continue your lawfare against President Trump in his second term,” Davis said on Benny Johnson’s “Benny Show” podcast. “Because, listen here, sweetheart: We’re not messing around this time, and we will put your fat ass in prison for conspiracy against rights, and I promise you that.”
Fox News hosts suggest "death penalty" for Donald Trump prosecutors
The hosts of Fox News’ “The Five” on Thursday talked about capital punishment for the prosecutors in the criminal cases against now-President-elect Donald Trump. “A lot of the people that were on this that wanted it so badly, how are they going to survive? Do you think they need therapy?” asked Greg Gutfeld. “Yes, they definitely need therapy and maybe also the death penalty,” replied Dana Perino. Gutfeld agreed, saying: “Yes, I think the death penalty.”

Elizabeth Warren spells out what Democrats must do "with urgency" before Trump takes power
Sen. Elizabeth Warren unveiled her plan for Democrats “to fight back” following Donald Trump’s decisive election win. In an essay published by Time magazine, Warren detailed how lawmakers must "fight every fight in Congress," Trump must be taken on "in the courts," and everyone should "focus on what each of us can do." Warren continued, "While still in charge of the Senate and the White House, we must do all we can to safeguard our democracy." Warren also urged Pentagon leaders to "issue a directive now reiterating that the military’s oath is to the Constitution." The Massachusetts Democrat also urged current Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to "use every minute of the end-of-year legislative session to confirm federal judges and key regulators — none of whom can be removed by the next President."

Trump vows to destroy our climate with reckless drilling
Evergreen Action: The worst has come to pass, and now we have to do everything we can to minimize the damage that Donald Trump can do during his next administration. Right now, President Biden has just over two months before Trump takes the White House — which means he has two months to deny the export authorizations for five SUPER-polluting gas projects. Will you sign the petition and tell President Biden to shut down these destructive gas projects before Trump can get his hands on them?
