We appreciate you. |
Hola from Colombia, where I serve as Mercy Corps’ Communications Manager. Since our work here began in 2006, we have connected thousands of people with the support and services they need. Today we’re experiencing the COVID-19 quarantine, which has severely disrupted health and livelihoods in a country that already has one of the highest populations of displaced people on the planet. This work is challenging. But there are moments of hope. Recently, a voice message from a program participant, Yolis, to Mercy Corps program officer, Kevyn, inspired our local team to create this video — a collage of the people of Colombia and Venezuela, including some of the families we have met or served over the years. Yolis’ message provided a moment for all of us to remember: despite our challenges, we are making a real impact for real people, right now. Watch here ▸ Yolis received cash assistance when she needed it the most. Mercy Corps leads a program called VenEsperanza, working alongside other leading aid organizations to reach nearly 90,000 people with emergency cash assistance across Colombia. During the COVID-19 crisis, we are pursuing innovative ways to continue delivering aid safely and as quickly as possible to displaced Venezuelans and Colombians in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. Thanks so much to each of you for your ongoing support, and a special thanks to those of you who recently sent messages of encouragement to our global teams on the front lines. Your thoughts and words are truly appreciated, they give us strength to keep going, especially now. With gratitude, Ana María Olarte Segovia Communications and Corporate Relations Manager, Mercy Corps
