Friend,
Furious. Scared. Worried. Angry. Outraged. Sad. Tired. Amped. Anxious. Resolved. Not Giving Up.
We’re feeling all the feelings here at MomsRising about Vice President Kamala Harris losing the race for the White House. All. The. Feelings.
We know many of you are too – and we’re here for you.
The biggest emotion we’re having through all the feelings is that WE. ARE. NOT. GIVING. UP.
We’re not giving up on you, on us, and on what we can (and must) build together: Safe communities that welcome diversity. Affordable childcare. Maternal health equity. Reproductive freedoms. Paid family and medical leave after a new child arrives or serious health crisis strikes. Accessible homecare. Fair pay. Gun safety.
So we’re going to get together with you (Yes, YOU!), elected leaders, luminaries, and more on a GIANT ZOOM COMMUNITY MEETING to support each other, to grieve together, to rise together, and to map out next steps so everyone has the tools needed to thrive – and, importantly, to build an even bigger, stronger, persistent, insistent movement. It won’t be easy, but as some try to tear things down, together we will build.
Logistics: We’ll be gathering on Zoom so you can join from the comfort of your home this coming Thursday, November 14th at 8:30pmET/5:30pmPT. Kids are welcome. Just sign up here and we’ll keep you up to date with all the details. And please, please, please share this activation link with all the people in your life.
We’re nothing short of devastated, furious, and heart broken by Kamala Harris’ loss, as we’re also heartened by her recent words:
“Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars. I know many people feel like we are entering a dark time, but for the benefit of us all, I hope that is not the case. But here's the thing, America, if it is, let us fill the sky with the light of a brilliant, brilliant billion of stars. The light, the light of optimism, of faith, of truth and service.” - Vice President Kamala Harris, November 6, 2024
It’s time. The future is still ours to co-create together – and there is significant power in our voices (which are over a million strong), in our stories, in us reaching out in our communities, in our persistence, and in our insistence on putting our hands on the moral arc of the universe and bending it toward justice. As we do this, we remember the important words of Vice President Harris this week:
"Sometimes the fight takes a while. That doesn't mean we won't win. The important thing is don't ever give up. Don't ever stop trying to make the world a better place. You have power." - Vice President Kamala Harris, November 6, 2024
Remember, through it all, we still have each other. And together, we’re the powerful, persistent, unstoppable force that our nation needs right now. See you at our community meeting.
In gratitude,
Kristin, Donna, Gloria, Monifa, Nate, Ruth, Xochitl and the entire MomsRising/MamásConPoder team
