Post Election Update
Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The 2024 Election is finally over! It was a good night for Republicans nationwide as it seems that President Trump not only won, but is likely to enter office with a trifecta after winning the popular vote.

Here in Minnesota, we had a good night as well. We finally ended the DFL Trifecta!
However, as of now pending two recounts, the MN House ended in a 67-67 tie. This has only happened once in our state's history back in 1978 when Republicans picked up 32 seats to win the tie! Here is a great article about what happened then, including details about how a tied House operates and some of the drama that ensued.
In short, we don't know how committees or the speakership will be allocated between the two parties because every last detail needs to be negotiated. The last time this happened, there was no agreement until the first week of session!
After the chaotic end of session last year, it’s fitting that the MN House ended up in a tie. Now Democrats are forced to work with us and listen to the voices of every Minnesotan!
As I mentioned before, the actual power share is still up for negotiation but I will keep you updated as soon as we hear anything. For now, just know that we finally restored balance to the state government and it's time to get to work, even if we have to work with the other side like we're both wearing our "get along" shirt.
