The Week in Review
Happy Friday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 118th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
Previewing the Upcoming Spending Fights
With the elections over, Congress is finally returning to work in DC. And in just a few short months, we’ll have a new presidential administration ready to work for the American people.
As exciting as it is that Republicans will have control of the Administration and both chambers of Congress, we still have battles to fight this year.
It’s likely that the DC Cartel will attempt to ramrod one last CR through the Democrat-controlled Senate and Joe Biden’s desk during the lame-duck session. House conservatives must fight against it to protect Americans from bloated Biden-Harris-Pelosi-Schumer spending levels and woke priorities.

Another spending fight that is likely to come up before the end of this Congress is the debt ceiling. The debt ceiling, or the debt limit, is the maximum amount of money the U.S. can borrow. In 2023, under Kevin McCarthy and Chuck Schumer, Congress and Joe Biden agreed to suspend the debt ceiling—which was already at $34.1 trillion—until January 1, 2025, with no actual limit on the amount of borrowing that could be taken on in that time.
Because of the federal government’s reckless spending and Congress’s refusal to rein it in, the national debt has expanded an astonishing $4 trillion+ in just over a year and a half.

Demanding Accountability from FBI for Cooking the Books on Violent Crime Statistics
Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and I led a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray regarding the FBI’s quiet revision of misleading violent crime statistics during the Biden-Harris Administration.
In September 2023, the FBI released data suggesting a 2.1% decrease in violent crime across the nation from 2021-2022. Last month, however, the FBI quietly revised the data to show that violent crime had, in fact, increased by 4.5% from 2021.
The FBI did not publicize its revision of 2022 violent crime data. This confirms what congressional oversight has shown: the Biden-Harris crime epidemic continues to escalate and radical state and local officials hold the interests of criminals over the needs of American communities. Those involved in attempting to deceive the American public for the gain of the radical Biden-Harris regime must be held accountable. I’ll keep you posted.
The letter to Director Wray may be read here.

The 30-minute documentary features footage from private ranches along the border, the Darien Gap in Panama, and interviews with members of Congress, Border Patrol, local and state law enforcement, and much more.
