We’re diligently gathering all relevant information to keep our constituents informed regarding the recent escape of primates from Alpha Genesis Inc. in Beaufort County.

Our office has been in direct communication with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office and is working closely with their team to monitor and assess the situation.

We are withholding any formal statements until we have a complete understanding of all the facts. Stay tuned… 

New Legislation to Protect Assault Survivors

We introduced the Rape Shield Enhancement Act of 2024 to strengthen protections for sexual assault victims in court. This bill directs the Judicial Conference to report recommendations to Congress within 180 days, aiming to restrict the use of victims' private history and permit only directly relevant evidence. This ensures victims' personal information is protected from unnecessary exposure and misuse during legal proceedings.

Urging UN Secretary to Reject Attempted
Downgrade of Israel's Status at the United Nations

We joined a bipartisan group urging UN Secretary-General António Guterres to reject attempts by the Palestinian Authority to downgrade Israel’s status at the United Nations. “America funds a large part of the UN’s operations, and we won’t support any institution who aligns with terrorism,” Rep. Our Letter in Support of NDAA Amendment Restricting
Funding for Dog and Cat Testing at the DoD:

We joined Rep. Moskowitz and the Armed Services Committees in both chambers of Congress in seeking to preserve our language in the NDAA, which restricts the DoD from experimenting on dogs and cats. We want to ensure our four-legged friends aren’t used for harmful testing funded by taxpayers. Our Letter to USCIS After Employee Encouraged Illegal Immigration

We sent a letter to the Director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), demanding accountability for an employee who has been openly promoting illegal immigration on social media. This is unacceptable, and we will not stand by while individuals entrusted with enforcing our laws actively undermine them. We’re committed to ensuring the integrity of our immigration system is protected, and public servants uphold the values to keep our country safe and secure. In the Lowcountry

Berkeley County Grant for Gun Violence Prevention: 

We joined Sheriff Duane Lewis at a Berkeley County council meeting to announce a $500,000 grant we helped secure. This funding will bring new officers on board to tackle rising gun violence in Berkeley County. 

The Wall That Heals – Vietnam Memorial:

Ridgeville, SC, was selected as one of 31 stops nationwide for this traveling Vietnam memorial. We attended an event to honor our veterans and remind us of their sacrifices. We thank our veterans across the state for their dedication to this nation. 

Nucor Manufacturing Town Hall:

We toured the Nucor Corporation facility to hear directly from local workers. We discussed their work in the Lowcountry and shared our efforts to bring more jobs and economic growth to the Lowcountry. Nucor is one of the largest steel manufacturing companies in the United States.
