Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced [ [link removed] ] more than $55 million in continued support for brownfield remediation and building demolition projects across the state.
The Department of Development is awarding the funding through the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program [ [link removed] ] and Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program. [ [link removed] ] Both grant programs were developed by the DeWine-Husted administration in partnership with the Ohio General Assembly to create room for new economic opportunities in areas that currently cannot be developed due to contamination or the presence of vacant, dilapidated structures.

In honor of National Native American Heritage Month, TourismOhio has released [ [link removed] ] its list of Ohio's extraordinary Native American Heritage sites, offering visitors a chance to connect with history and culture in immersive ways.
“Ohio’s Native American sites are invaluable to our state’s history,” said Governor DeWine. “Standing where the first Ohioans once stood and seeing the monumental sites they created is a powerful experience and a testament to Ohio’s commitment to preserving and honoring this legacy.”

Lt. Governor Husted and Second Lady Tina Husted visited the Bellefaire Jewish Children’s Bureau [ [link removed] ]for National Adoption Month. The child service agency has more than 25 programs and serves more than 30,000 youth and their families yearly.

Governor DeWine issued [ [link removed] ] a proclamation declaring a state of emergency in Hamilton County due to the dangerous conditions and damages on the Ohio approach to the I-471 Daniel Carter Beard Bridge.
On Friday, November 1, 2024, a fire under the bridge spread to the overpass, severely damaging the southbound supporting girders, bridge deck, and support structures.

Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Development Director Mihalik met [ [link removed] ] with several officials from the Ukrainian region of Kharkiv Oblast for the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation aimed at strengthening Ohio’s support for the war-torn country.
Among those attending the signing ceremony from Ukraine were Head of the Kharkiv Oblast Regional Council Tetiana Yehorova-Lutsenko and Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova.
“Our partnership, rooted in goodwill and mutual respect, unites Ohio and Kharkiv Oblast in a shared vision for prosperity and advancement for our communities and citizens,” said Governor DeWine.

Governor DeWine welcomed [ [link removed] ] 20 Ohioans as the newest members of the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame. These individuals were honored during an induction ceremony Thursday in recognition of their outstanding post-military accomplishments.
“As Governor, I am proud to welcome the Class of 2024 to the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame,” said Governor DeWine. “The 20 exceptional Ohio veterans we are celebrating today deserve our gratitude, not only for their service to our country in the Armed Forces, but for their enduring service to our communities and our state in their post-military lives. These individuals have dedicated their lives to helping others and are an inspiration to all of us every day.”

Workforce Mobility [ [link removed] ]
Governor DeWine and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Pamela Boratyn announced [ [link removed] ] grants of more than $17.5 million to support public workforce transportation in rural and urban areas of Ohio.
ODOT is awarding the funding to transit agencies in 16 counties through the Ohio Workforce Mobility Partnership Program [ [link removed] ] (OWMP). The funding will support 33 transit projects that increase the ease and efficiency of transporting residents to economically significant employment centers or places of employment outside of their home communities.
“Transportation should never be a barrier to opportunity," said Governor DeWine. "With these grants, we're ensuring that Ohioans can easily travel to and from work without having to choose between a good paying job or the relocation of their family.”
