Friend,

In the days following the 2024 presidential election, many young Black people were harassed with abhorrently racist text messages.

We condemn this public spectacle of hatred that makes a mockery of our country’s civil rights history.

We know this news is incredibly distressing, especially so for our community members who received this text themselves. Please rest assured that the SPLC has launched a rapid response investigation into this incident.

If you or a family member, friend or neighbor have been targeted with a racist text message, we encourage you to report the message to the SPLC by calling our tipline at (855) 441-8694 or reporting online here.

REPORT A TIP

We will not stand by while Black communities are imperiled by racist attacks. In the coming weeks, we will continue doing all we can to ensure that those impacted by hate speech are safe and supported and hold those responsible to account.

In solidarity,

The Southern Poverty Law Center
