With his decisive win, President-elect Donald Trump will return to the White House for a second term, four years after losing the 2020 election to President Joe Biden.
His victory is history-making in numerous ways. Trump is the first former U.S. president since Grover Cleveland to be reelected for a nonconsecutive second term. He’s also the first person to be convicted of felonies and win the U.S. presidency, as well as the only former president to have been impeached twice.
And, at 78, Trump will be the oldest president ever inaugurated — a few months older than Biden was when he took office in 2021.
While the election postmortems fly, Trump is preparing for his administration, starting with another first: Susie Wiles will be the first woman to lead as White House chief of staff. With just more than 70 days until inauguration, the transition has begun with haste, along with a new era of American politics and policies.
