Dear Immigrants Rising Community,
What a week it’s been. Among the Immigrants Rising team, coalition partners, and my own friends and family, I’ve heard a wide range of emotions that I would imagine you have experienced too: grief, sadness, anger, fear, despair, numbness, rage, and more. Whatever you’re feeling is valid, and I hope you find moments to care for yourself and draw strength from those who support and love you as we prepare for the road ahead.
Even as President-elect Trump returns to the White House this January, we will not lose sight of who we are and what we’re about. We will not be afraid and we will not be deterred from pursuing our dreams and goals. We’ve overcome countless obstacles before, and once again, we are ready to rise. We stand strong, equipped, and united in our efforts to dismantle the barriers ahead of us.
Our strength is in our community, and we will continue to lift one another, leveraging our collective power. Together, we will continue to remove systemic barriers, expand access to higher education, create and sustain innovative businesses, train new immigrant leaders, and nurture our mental health. Our commitment to this work doesn’t waver, regardless of political change.
There will be uncertainties and challenges ahead, but they will be met with solidarity and collective action. Immigrants Rising will continue to stand firm and advocate for solutions that protect access to opportunity for undocumented people — and we encourage you to join us in this fight!
We refuse to stand on the sidelines when our communities’ ability to thrive is threatened, and we know you won’t either. As we navigate the road ahead, we must also remember to prioritize our mental health and wellness. Taking care of ourselves and each other is vital to sustaining this work. Immigrants Rising stands with you. Together, we will continue to shine bright even in the darkest moments.
In solidarity,
