Dear John,
It's been an eventful week here in Minnesota and for our country. I want you to know how honored I am to continue to serve you and represent our district in Congress for the next two years. And my approach will be the same as it's always been - I'll work with both Republicans and Democrats when they're right and stand up to them when they're wrong. We've got important work to do to lower costs, secure our southern border and promote public safety. You've got my commitment that I will always do what's best for the people of Minnesota's Second District.
As I head back to Washington next week for votes, I’ve got a lot on my to-do list before the end of the year.
The fentanyl crisis continues to devastate families in our communities and social media companies are still not required to alert law enforcement when drug sales are made on their platforms. My bipartisan bill, the Cooper Davis and Devin Norring Act, would change that. I will use every tool at my disposal to get this across the finish line as soon as possible and prevent the fentanyl crisis from causing further harm in our communities.
I know that rising prices are top of mind for so many. I’ve been pressing House leadership to allow a vote on my bill, the Task Force to Stop Price Gouging Act, which would establish a task force to investigate corporate and government behavior that leads to an increase in prices. I will keep you updated on the progress here as well.
There is a lot of critical legislation that needs to be passed in these final weeks and both parties must come together to get it done. Americans impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton need disaster aid to help rebuild from these storms. And Minnesota farmers are also still waiting for a Farm Bill. It’s time for Members of Congress to work together to get this done.
I will continue to work with both parties to get things done and improve the lives of Minnesotans.
Here’s what else I was up to this week:
Meeting with young constituents
On Monday, I joined the Eagan High School senior political science class to talk about my experiences as a Member of Congress and answer their questions about how our federal government works. It was great to see so many young constituents being civically engaged.
Behind the scenes with Rep. Craig:
After a busy few weeks, I’m spending some much-needed time with family – my grandson Wyatt says hi!
Finally, I hope everyone has a meaningful Veterans Day on Monday and takes time to thank our veterans for the sacrifices they’ve made for our country.
Until next week,
Angie Craig
Member of Congress
