OCCORD Post Election Statement

Dear Community,?

In the wake of the recent election, Orange County Communities Organized for Responsible Development (OCCORD) reaffirms our unwavering commitment to the families and communities we serve. Now, more than ever, we stand united in our mission to build strong, resilient, and inclusive communities where every person feels safe, valued, and empowered.

We understand that times like these can bring feelings of fear, uncertainty, and concern. But we have been here before. We know our communities are resilient and strong, and together, we will continue to rise above any challenges. We will not allow fear and hateful rhetoric to erode our spirit, diminish our hope, or weaken the bonds that tie us together.

As an organization led by women of color, we are deeply committed to the safety, care, and empowerment of women and immigrants in our communities. We are dedicated to creating a community where women and immigrants, especially those from historically marginalized backgrounds, can thrive and live without fear. We recognize the vital role of women and immigrants in our families and neighborhoods and are steadfast in ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.

OCCORD will continue to stand as a pillar of support, advocate for justice, and work tirelessly to advance the rights and well-being of everyone in our community. Our mission has always exceeded the boundaries of any single election cycle. For decades, we have worked to create lasting, systemic change through grassroots organizing, leadership development, and policy advocacy. Today, this work becomes even more crucial.

We remain steadfast in our commitment to:

- Building the next generation of community leaders who will shape Orange County's future.

- Supporting and protecting immigrant families through comprehensive naturalization efforts.

- Expanding civic engagement and voter participation.?

- Advancing local policies that create equitable and economic opportunities for working families.

- Fostering unity and solidarity across our diverse communities, especially among communities of color.

- Advocating for women of color to lead in their communities while ensuring their safety, dignity, and equal opportunity are uplifted within our communities.

The strength of our movement lies not in election results but in the enduring bonds we forge with one another. Every day, we witness the power of community members coming together to support each other, share resources, and work collectively toward positive change.

Together, we will continue organizing, advocating, and building power to create an Orange County that represents all of us. Our commitment to economic and social justice remains unshaken, and our commitment to create positive change grows stronger each day.

Ahora, m?s que nunca, estamos unidos en nuestra misi?n de construir comunidades fuertes, resilientes e inclusivas, donde cada persona se sienta segura, valorada y empoderada.

Entendemos que tiempos como estos pueden traer sentimientos de miedo, incertidumbre y preocupaci?n. Pero hemos estado aqu? antes. Sabemos que nuestras comunidades son resilientes y fuertes, y juntos continuaremos superando cualquier desaf?o. No permitiremos que el miedo y la ret?rica de odio erosionen nuestro esp?ritu, disminuyan nuestra esperanza o debiliten los lazos que nos unen.

Como una organizaci?n liderada por mujeres de color, estamos profundamente comprometidas con la seguridad, el cuidado y el empoderamiento de las mujeres e inmigrantes en nuestras comunidades. Estamos dedicadas a crear una comunidad donde las mujeres e inmigrantes, especialmente aquellos de contextos hist?ricamente marginados, puedan prosperar y vivir sin miedo. Reconocemos el papel vital de las mujeres y los inmigrantes en nuestras familias y vecindarios y somos firmes en asegurar que sus voces se escuchen y sus derechos se protejan.

Permanecemos firmes en nuestro compromiso de:

- Apoyar y proteger a las familias inmigrantes a trav?s de esfuerzos integrales de naturalizaci?n.

- Ampliar la participaci?n c?vica y el compromiso de los votantes.

- Promover pol?zas locales que creen oportunidades equitativas y econ?micas para las familias trabajadoras.

- Fomentar la unidad y la solidaridad entre nuestras diversas comunidades, especialmente entre las comunidades de color.

- Abogar para que las mujeres de color lideren en sus comunidades, asegurando su seguridad, dignidad e igualdad de oportunidades dentro de nuestras comunidades.

La fortaleza de nuestro movimiento no radica en los resultados electorales, sino en los lazos duraderos que forjamos unos con otros.
