I had big hopes that we would be celebrating a historic victory for Vice President Kamala Harris. Disappointed doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel. 

Like you, I spent the last 100 days arguing that the Democrats have the best vision for the economy and for our future. I still believe we do.

But here’s the hard truth that I’ve seen firsthand in towns across the country—the American economy is the envy of the world, but many people aren’t experiencing that prosperity. 

Groceries are too expensive, energy costs are too high, healthcare and prescription drug costs are too high, and the rent is too high. 

This is a big reason President Trump won.

Americans want their shot at the American Dream. They feel like they aren’t getting it now, so they voted for a different direction. 

I hope we can get the economy working for working people—let’s invest in American manufacturing and bring clean steel and aluminum jobs back to America. 

Trump’s vision for the economy falls short. It benefits the ultra-wealthy while sticking it to the working and middle-class. We need to be ready to offer a better path forward for the economy and we need to deliver results.

It’s okay to be disappointed. But we need to get back to work to protect our freedoms and fight for the American Dream.
