A busy week, a moment to reflect.
This week I've been hard at work following my return from representing the United Kingdom at the G20 Summit in Brazil.
In London this week, I supported Health Equals with their campaign to reduce health inequalities across the UK, addressed the Cancer Alliance Leadership Forum, and took part in several debates.
This weekend marks Remembrance Sunday, and I'll be taking a moment to lay a wreath for those who gave their tomorrow for our today.
HIGHLIGHTS
Muslim Hands, Open Kitchen
It was wonderful to hand out just a few meals with the team at the Open Kitchen in the Pakistani Community Centre, Longsight.
Since they opened in summer, they have handed out thousands of meals, to the homeless or those suffering from food poverty.
They do really fantastic work, so to make a donation or find out more, please go to: The Open Kitchen | Muslim Hands UK ([link removed])
Pakistani Community Centre Coffee Morning
It was wonderful to meet so many residents at my coffee morning in Longsight.
We had a great chat about all sorts, from issues in the community, national policy and my responsibilities as health minister.
I'll be hosting plenty more of these coffee mornings, so please do keep you eye out on social media for the next one. It's always a pleasure to meet those that make Gorton and Denton special.
Speakers Remembrance Garden
With Remembrance Sunday this weekend, I laid a dedication at the Speakers Constituency Garden at the House of Commons.
A small gesture to those who've served this country in conflicts past and present, and to remember all those who lost their lives carrying out their duty.
This weekend I'll be laying a wreath at the main cenotaph in Manchester, and privately visiting all memorials in the constituency to pay my respects.
Health Equals
It was my pleasure to support Health Equals. a coalition of organisations campaigning to reduce health inequalities across the country.
In parts of the North West life expectancy is 16 years lower than in some other parts of the UK, and evidence shows that health inequalities are getting worse.
I am determined to tackle health inequalities head on, because where you live, shouldn't determine how long you live.
