VIDEO OF THE DAY: Post-election update from Brian Tyler Cohen
There are several structural disadvantages that Democrats are contending with right now that made winning this election very difficult. Firstly, we desperately need a left-wing media ecosystem that rivals what Republicans have on the right, and we desperately need our politicians and thought leaders to embrace that idea. Running to CNN or The New York Times for validation or to get the latest talking points out simply is not enough. The mainstream media are not partners in democracy. Corporate media exists to serve its shareholders. It is a business before it is anything else, and we cannot disabuse ourselves of this simple fact. Secondly, for tens of millions of Americans, historically high inflation — and specifically the skyrocketing cost of groceries — was the primary issue this election. In a period of high global inflation, we have witnessed the same phenomenon in recent elections all over the world (see France, the UK, India, South Africa, Senegal, etc.): voters were stretched thin and the party in power was held accountable and punished. The United States is no different. As crazy as it might sound, democracy and climate change — two long-term issues with far graver consequences for the future of humanity — simply did not move the needle this cycle. Yes, Donald Trump is a miserable, wannabe autocrat and his many, many transgressions were clearly disqualifying to half the country. But beating that drum over and over is not going to cut it at this point. The fight for basic progressive values begins anew. The United States has survived stress tests that have pushed the country to the brink before, and we must compel ourselves to do so again now.

Unions say building worker power is only way to defeat Trump's fascist right
Jake Johnson, Common Dreams: The largest labor unions in the United States are ready for a fight. That much was made clear within hours of Donald Trump's victory over Vice President Kamala Harris in Tuesday's election, an outcome that will soon bring to power a former president who aggressively pursued anti-worker policies during his first four years in the White House despite posturing as an ally of rank-and-file union members. For Shawn Fain, the fiery president of the United Auto Workers, the struggle for the nation's working class in the wake of Trump's victory is identical to the one it faced prior to the election: "unchecked corporate greed destroying our lives, our families, and our communities."

Trump vows to destroy our climate with reckless drilling
Evergreen Action: The worst has come to pass, and now we have to do everything we can to minimize the damage that Donald Trump can do during his next administration. Right now, President Biden has just over two months before Trump takes the White House — which means he has two months to deny the export authorizations for five SUPER-polluting gas projects. Will you sign the petition and tell President Biden to shut down these destructive gas projects before Trump can get his hands on them?
Democrats insist they still have a path to House majority
Time will soon tell.

Elon Musk busted in ILLEGAL vote-buying operation
MoveOn: Elon Musk, the richest man in the world, gave more than $75 MILLION to elect Trump and attempted to give away $1 MILLION a DAY through Election Day to registered voters in key battleground states like Pennsylvania in efforts of boosting voter registration in favor of Trump. This is outrageously illegal and he must be held accountable. Will you sign the petition to demand the Department of Justice investigate Elon Musk for his flagrant efforts to buy votes?
