We hope this email finds you and your families well.
As your local ward Councillors we wish to let you know that you are not alone in this crisis and that your City Council continues to work hard to help those who need it most.
In Wollaton West we have been liaising with council officers to keep up to date with the latest information and continuing to support residents.
Our ward has some very resourceful residents and groups who are willing to go the extra mile, picking up shopping and prescriptions for those unable to leave the house.
Local businesses across the ward have offered support, for example on Bramcote Lane Coates (butcher) and Sharpes (fruit and vegetables) are offering deliveries and the Cheesecake Shop is selling takeaway hot drinks. Nottingham City Council has provided small businesses with £40m of support.
There have also been orderly queues for the Post Office and supermarkets – it’s great to see so many of us adapting to the new ‘normal’ so quickly. We would like to thank every single one of you for your help and support, whether you’ve opened up your business, volunteered in any way or stayed at home.
We are pleased to have been able to keep Wollaton Park open, and we are also lucky enough to have the two nature reserves, all of which are looking beautiful at this time of year (so no excuses for not exercising!) Hopefully, those of us who are having to shield will be able to get out and about again very soon.
Do please get in touch with us if you have any queries (our details are at the bottom of this email) it doesn’t have to be related to Covid-19 – we are still here for you!

This video shows the type of support we’ve been providing so far with amazing partners in Wollaton West ward.
Parbinder is our Neighbourhood Development Officer for Wollaton West. He receives lots of cases referred from the Council’s Customer Hub for people needed helping and support in Wollaton.
Here Parbinder shares an amazing example of how everyone is pulling together to make sure vulnerable people are supported.
A range of support is available for people in Nottingham – from asking good neighbours to pick up some essentials, all the way through to NHS Shielding Measures and Adult Social Care support.
If you are self-isolating, and have no other means of support, you can call the Council. We can deliver a food parcel to your door for a small charge – parcels are free for extremely vulnerable people in NHS Shielding Measures. Simply call the Council’s Customer Hub on 0115 915 5555. This line is open 9am-5pm Monday to Friday or you can complete the online form at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/coronavirus
Want to volunteer? If you would like to help your community by delivering food packages or providing phone support, please become a volunteer with Nottingham Community and Voluntary Service www.nottinghamcvs.co.uk/volunteering/want-to-volunteer
Want more than a food parcel? Our Meals at Home service provides single person and family food options as well as vegan and vegetarian meals – everything can be delivered frozen ready for you to cook at home or hot meals can be delivered too. If you have an elderly or vulnerable relative, ordering a regular delivery can help you to feel better, knowing a hot meal has been delivered to your loved one by our friendly team. Simply call 0115 876 1847 or visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/mealsathome
