We know that Black and brown people are disproportionately impacted by systems of incarceration due to systematic racism and white supremacy. We systematically have our realities and futures stolen by the prison industrial complex and all who prop it up.
Despite the actual legal wrongdoings of the incumbent President, his racism, the racist comments his entire circle proclaims (like when one of his former top advisors said at his New York Madison Square Garden rally, “America is for Americans and Americans only”...what could sound more white nationalist than that??), and the blatant lies, he is continually handed opportunity after opportunity.
The simple truth is that he can get away with all this because he is a rich white man in America. The systems work so blatantly in his favor because they were built that way.
We refuse to accept a world where a man like Donald Trump can be President while Black formerly incarcerated and incarcerated brothers and sisters are barely afforded human rights.
The journey towards a world where Black people have everything they need, without relying on the criminal punishment system to keep us safe, must start now.
