Dear John,

You can help reindeer this Christmas!

Two weeks ago we brought you news that this year’s festive events campaign had launched with a bang, and that we were writing to hundreds of event organisers to encourage them to make the compassionate decision to choose animal-free entertainment rather than using hired reindeer in 2024. So far we have contacted 181 events with our joint letter signed by 21 animal protection organisations!

Oldham Reindeer Parade 2022 saw reindeer completely surrounded by noisy crowds, immediately after having been forced to parade through them next to a deafening brass band. 591 Freedom for Animals supporters complained to the council, and since then their Christmas festivities have been animal-free!
You can help!

Our interactive map shows events near you that have hired live reindeer, and lists their email addresses so you can contact them to ask them to reconsider. It also shows events in green that have previously used live reindeer but chosen animal-free entertainment this year! So you can find a local event free from captive animal exploitation to enjoy this year.

13 new events have just been added to the map - take a look today!

Use our interactive map to find reindeer events near you and object directly to the organisers! When an event cancels its reindeer use, we turn the marker green. Help us turn this map green!
We have also been working with Lancaster Animal Protection to support their campaign to stop the ‘Reindeer Day’ planned in their city. This week their petition flew past 1,000 signatures - if you haven’t signed yet - now’s the time! We also spent Tuesday speaking with business owners in Lancaster city centre to raise awareness about the event and the risks it poses to the reindeer. Not one person we spoke to was in favour of the event, and many agreed to display LAP’s campaign posters in their windows. There are more great actions to come from these incredible activists - watch this space!
Posters are going up around Lancaster promoting Lancaster Animal Protection's campaign to stop the 'Reindeer Day' planned for St. Nic's Arcade on 1st December. Have you signed the petition yet?
There are so many ways to help reindeer this festive season!
