Remembrance Sunday & Armistice Day
Sun 10 November Victoria Embankment
The traditional Remembrance Service takes place this Sunday at the city's war memorial at Victoria Embankment. The ceremony will begin at 10.45am and include the two-minute silence and wreath laying.
The Nottinghamshire Band of The Royal Engineers, accompanied by the Nottingham Hospitals Choir, will provide music for the service. People wishing to pay their respects and observe the ceremony are very welcome. There will be a large screen on Victoria Embankment, and a PA system will ensure people can also hear the service.
To mark Armistice Day, there will be a short Service of Remembrance on the steps of the Council House on Monday 11 November at 10.55am. Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Experience Old Market Square from above on the Observation Wheel and Sky Skate Ice Path, enjoy ground-level ice rink skating, indulge in delicious food and drink at the Sur La Piste and Altitude chalet bars, chill out in the Ice Bar, and start your Christmas shopping at the market stalls.
Entry is free but some attractions are ticketed. Nottingham City residents can receive a 10% discount on super off-peak and off-peak ice skating bookings.

Don't miss the final few days of the Nottingham Comedy Festival. Tonight, TJ McDonald dives into the wild world of conspiracy theories at Canalhouse, Dylan Dodds gets déjà vu at Vibes, and Mel Judson and Gill Gee present a comedy double bill at Whistle & Flute.
On Saturday and Sunday there are full days of events, including Bruce Edhouse at Fishergate Point, Caroline Madds at The Navigation, The Improvised Star Wars Show at Malt Cross, and Harry Ford at The Embankment.
Diwali at the Castle

The new ‘Katha’ exhibition launches today at Nottingham Castle. Nottingham City Museum curators have been working with Nottingham Trent University, where each student has interpreted an individual object from the Indian Collections, to form the basis of a spotlight exhibition for Diwali.
Tomorrow from 1pm-3pm, enjoy the ambience of classic and contemporary music and dance as you walk through the museum. Talented Nottingham Trent University students will capture the essence of the rich musical heritage of Diwali. There will also be performances from Bollywood saxophonist Saryu Thakrar, international singer and guitarist Charles Anthony, artist Ankita Sethi, and students from the Nottingham Asian Arts Council.
