Greetings,
We are sending our thoughts and prayers to communities across the globe as we all continue to work through the impacts of this pandemic. While we encounter feelings of discomfort in the unexpected, we can find comfort in God's consistent presence and love poured into our lives.
The Festival of Sharing Quilt Committee would like to provide an update and words of encouragement for the 2020 Quilt Auction. As we see the ways that Church World Service is responding to this global crisis, such as providing blankets and hygiene kits to those experiencing homelessness in [link removed] New York , we are reminded of the impact the quilt auction can make on these opportunities.
We are moving forward with plans for the 2020 Quilt Auction in hopes that we will be able to gather at a live event on November 14th at the Knights of Columbus building in Columbia, MO. We are working on an online resource that will allow for previewing, pre-bidding, and purchasing of quilts and will be available regardless of how the auction is held. Our goal is to have the online resources available for use by the beginning of October. We will continue to monitor the situation and make a decision in early October on whether or not the auction will move to solely online. An announcement and detailed plans will be shared with the public.
We would like to extend our deepest appreciation to our friends who invest many hours on quilted items each year. With your hard work and dedication, we were able to raise over $18,000 with 150 items in 2019. We are currently accepting donations of quilted items, including but not limited to, table runners, wall-hangings, full-king size quilts, throws, crib quilts, and more. We encourage you to continue making these items and sending them to our office (3601 Amron Ct, Columbia, MO 65202) as you are able. The official deadline for donations is August 14th.
